We are on vacation and it’s our third time to this island. Usually, we rent a big beach house on the western end and come in the early spring.
This time our trip was a quick, last minute decision and the summer rates had already kicked in. What exactly does that mean? The beach-type houses we usually rent are pretty expensive right now.
So, instead of spending all our money on a big house rental, we opted for a ‘fish camp.’ Here, a fish camp is set of small multicolored houses in a gated community near the bridge.
They are so nice. There are boat docks, a pool, a fishing dock complete with fish cleaning station, and even a boardwalk that winds down by the water.
I’m so happy that we chose this place! It’s clean and comfy, has a Mississippi Sound view, and Little Bit and I just saw took a walk and saw dolphins.
How very special Jess, they’re such beautiful creatures. I hope you had a lovely relaxing time away and hope you’re all okay. Been thinking of you. Hugs ๐

Hi sweetie. It was a wonderful trip. Just what we needed. We spent a lot of time at the water. It’s so refreshing to stand in the sea. Looks like you’ve had some adventures yourself. ๐ฌ๐ฌ

Wonderful! As the kids have started school, trying to get back into a routine before my semester begins this fall. We had a nice summer, and honestly I’m still in summer mode. I need more time to explore and visit, but school calls. ๐

Wow, summer flew by. Can’t believe schools are starting already. We drove through a town today and they start next week. I’m like you- still in summer mode. Today we went to our lake cabin and swam for like 3 hours. It was soooo fun. Glad you’re doing wonderfully. Thank you for commenting on my post. Means a lot.

Dolphins!! Ohhhhh Dolphins! I’m so envious. I’ve never seen one in real life and hang on to my hope to see one, one day.
The little house looks fabulous! All painted in Ice Cream colours! So summery and so friendly looking.
Wishing you wonderful days filled with memories. ~ Cobs xxx

Feeling pretty lucky to be here. Saw an amazing sunset tonight. How are things in Arkansas?

Only get on here twice a week anymore. Things are hot and dry and heat index with all the humidity is 104 today. Do not care for July in Arkansas.

Wow. 104 sounds stifling. Hope you’re keeping cool. ๐๐

How awesome! I have seen plenty of dolphins while out boating, but I don’t think I’ve seen them that close to shore (at least that I can remember).

Oh really? I wonder if they hang out so close because they’re following the fish in. There are several pelicans and sea gulls perched around as well. We saw the birds diving to the water yesterday.

That seems like a plausible explanation – I do recall seeing some dolphins near shore in Fort Walton Beach years ago, now that I have thought about it for a bit. Maybe the gulf shore dolphins just like hanging out near all the pretty beaches!

Thank you. Yes ma’am. Little Bit was riding his scooter and we were watching a Great Blue heron and some pelicans, when I saw the fins. It was SO exciting. Love dolphins. If we go on a dolphin cruise I’ll try to get a video so you can see them.

I went to see the dolphins out in the ocean with my son many moons ago. It’s so peaceful being beside the ocean. Enjoy your vacation.

Thank you. There seems to be something so spiritual about dolphins… can’t really put my finger on it, but like you said, it’s peaceful. I love that you got to do that with your son. Quite fitting because I got to see some today with mine. ๐

Hi. Have you ever been down here? We’re in Alabama. Bet you would love it. We just got back from the sea life museum where you can see jellyfish, seahorses, and even pet stingrays. (I passed- ha!)

How lovely, Jessica. I took my boys to uShaka aquarium in Durban, South Africa. They have a wonderful dolphin show and the dolphins come up right close to the people sitting in the front.

Oh my gosh, that sounds AMAZING. I bet you guys loved that. My pictures here aren’t the clearest, but I thought it’d be neat to share them. We hope to go on a dolphin cruise. A boat takes you out and you can see them up close. Hopefully I can get some close ups. Hope you have a great day.
