Filled With Wonder

It’s deer season in our neck of the woods. Normally around here that means stores have Christmas open houses so wives can shop while husbands hunt.

My husband loves the smell of fall, going to the cabin, and spending the days milling about the trees and hills. While he’s gone, Little Bit and get some play time.

To kick it off, we went to the Wonders of Wildlife Museum a few towns over.

What a glorious place! On the outside it just looks like an ordinary building. Inside, it’s where ocean meets land, and everything in between. Extraordinary is the only thought that comes to mind to describe it. It’s part aquarium, part history museum.

You wouldn’t believe all the animals are in there. We saw tropical fish, seahorses, beavers, alligators, an octopus, sharks, fresh water fish, owls, and more.

It is absolutely breathtaking and amazing. There are jellyfish, sea rays, and grouper 4 feet long. We learned that iguana eat bananas. We had so much fun.

Day turned to evening and after we stopped and ate supper, we went home to play our new Shark Monopoly game we got at the gift shop.

What an awesome day. I am so thankful for the memories we made and the simple reminder that life really is filled with wonder.

  1. Oh, I can’t wait to go!!! I was at Bass Pro last month when I was visiting my Grands and I bought them a year family pass to both the Wildlife and Aquarium. The first time they went, my son was called out for work and they had to cut their trip short. They said that what they saw was AMAZING.
We have some catching up to do!!!! I pray all is well with you and yours.
    Happy belated Thanksgiving

  2. This post made me so happy! My daughter works there and has trained the sting rays so they can be touched and fed by the public (I did a recent post athttps://randombitsoftrialanderror.com/2017/09/29/wonders-of-wildlife-national-museum-and-aquarium-springfield-mo-full-time-rv-life/ ). There are so many wonderful marine biologists and aquarists who have worked so hard to make it a magical place. I haven’t been able to visit, but I’ve heard it’s beautiful (as your photos suggest). I’m so glad you enjoyed it! Dawn

    • Hi. It is Amazing beyond words. I guess lots of movie stars came to the grand opening in September. You wouldn’t even believe how beautiful it is in there. There are touch-tanks and you can touch starfish, horseshoe crabs, tiny sharks, and rays.
