Such a Beautiful Day

A trip around the yard this morning, shows it’s such a beautiful day.

the sun is shining
the sunflowers are blooming
the crepe myrtles are
wearing their Monday best

The kittens are awake and showing off all of their cuteness.

Tonight some friends are coming over for a Mom’s Night Out- Swim and Chat. I fancied the name all up for social media, ha ha. Basically, friends are coming over and we’re going to talk, eat, and swim.

sunlight and circles on the pool this morning

I’m excited to see them. Some I haven’t seen in a couple months and one I haven’t seen in a couple years.

Life gets busy. Seems like everyone is doing their own things. Putting an evening on pause once in a while is good for the soul.

We’re having a potluck. I got stuff for yummy sandwiches, fruits and dip, a veggie tray, and my son and I are making a dessert made with graham crackers, pudding and whipped cream.

I already decided that I’m not going to do a lot of cleaning today or get in a huge frenzy about the house. Call it the grace of relaxing into life. Plus, I read an Erma Bombeck article recently, where she mentioned letting people come over even if the carpet was stained.

We don’t have carpet, but I get the point. Just invite them over, is what my heart says to do. No need to get stuck in the details of things being spotless and perfect.

Chances are, they’ll see all the beauty in this day like I see it, and won’t even notice the un-mopped floor. Ha ha!!

Thanks for being here. Hope your day is beautiful, too!

  1. A beautiful day and such sweet kittens … I don’t have anyone visiting my house, so that has sorely contributed to it being so cluttered and messy. When I retire, it will be one of my goals to declutter from top to bottom.

    • Hi. Hope you’re doing great today. Thank you. I thought those kitten pictures were so sweet. They are so curious and go where I go. We have 5 kittens and a mom. Blackjack, Coco, Millie, Squealer, Ruby, and the mom is Snuggles. They’re very sweet.

Seems like it’s easy to get clutter. I cleaned cupboards yesterday. I try to do that every couple months. I still have a few in the kitchen to do. Under the sink is the ‘catch all.’ Ha ha. So much stuff under there. Vases and things. It’s getting cleaned out this week. :)

    • Hiiiii. I wondered what happened to your blog! I remember your posts about your rats. That was a longggg time ago. I see that you’ve been traveling. That’s exciting. Thank you. If you read back very far, you’ll see I lost my momma recently. Been writing about it some. Just a heads up. 💗 Getting through it though. Sure is a process. Great seeing your name again. Hope you have a great day!

      • I’m really sorry to hear that. Thinking of you. Xxxx

Oh I know, I miss the rats! Don’t have any anymore and I miss them – things got so busy with the kids and now we’ve got two cats too.. though we do still have a wee hamster which gives me my small pet fix!!, we got a new one recently so will write about him soon!

        Take care X

    • Hi. Thank you. Hard to pass up kittens and a sunny sky. ❤️ We had a great visit. Poolside, solar lights, laughter. A girl could get used to that!

I’m having a ‘pool week.’ Our forecast was cool with rain, they changed it to hot and sunny! I feel like I need to get my pool time in before fall shows up!

  2. I can’t believe you wrote this today….my girlfriend from Wyoming called this morning and said she’d be in town. She’d like to come here before she leaves to head back home. My first thought was, I have to clean the house! It’s dusty, there are dog nose prints on the windows, and I need to mop. Thanks for helping me remember what’s important!

  3. Sounds like a fun evening, and I’m sure your friends will appreciate it and enjoy it immensely. I love Erma Bombeck! And she is right. A clean floor doesn’t matter. Time together does. Enjoy!

    • Hi. Thank you, I’m looking forward to the laughs and stories. I think you’re right about the floor. It is the time together, like you said. It’s the showing up for a little while, on some random evening that will be remembered, not the house stuff. Thank you for reading. PS I emailed you a bit ago.
