Ever notice how just varying the places we stand can change the view?
Two weekends ago, on our Sunday drive, we stuck close to home. You wouldn’t believe all of the beautiful places within five miles of our house.
These Ozark hills, with their trees, pastures, and crystal clear creeks, stop me in my tracks every time. This morning, I counted up the number of creek/ river crossings nearby and it’s eleven.
We’ve been to them all hundreds of times. Driving over them gives us one view and standing beside them gives us another.
That Sunday, in addition to our regular stops, we stumbled across a couple of extremely kind land owners who gave us permission to cross their property lines.
That gave us the chance to see the river from places we’ve never been. We crawled on giant flat rocks, saw crawdads laying in the sun, and even saw teeny tiny baby frogs hopping on a gravel bar.
What a glorious treat it was. We felt like we had our own backstage passes.
Backstage passes to nature … ooh, I love that Jess. So much beauty right on our doorstep, good for you in finding it. Gorgeous pics ❤️

Thank you, sweetie! When I was younger, I set a goal of going to 100 music concerts in my lifetime. Made it to 65. It seems kind of funny to me how nature changes things. Now I’d much rather sit at the river bank and listen, than be near pounding speakers and crowds! 🌺

Ah, the ultimate music concert! I was a bit like you, I never set a target goal (kinda cute) but I LOVED live concerts and went to so many. Nowadays I still love music but the best is definitely found in nature. The soothing kind! 🌿

Beautiful photos. You are making me miss the Ozarks and my grandbabies!!! I hear a trip calling.
You are so amazing for one so young and raising a child that you are also so connected to nature. Most people are always in such a hurry to get somewhere that they miss the magic of the moment.

I know what you mean about busy… We’ve been gone every day for 13 days. Home to sleep, then off again. Ha. We are doing well. Trying to get our lake cabin ready to sell. Went down and cleaned it and brought another load back home.
You like snow? Me, too! What fun stuff do you do? Snow angels, snowmen, sledding?

We have loved here 30 years and this summer we finally visited and old Roman garrison site half an hour away from our home! It seems like you know it’s always foing to be there so you never get around to looking at your own area. I have a friend who came from Liverpool but emigrated to Oz as an adult. It was only when he came over for a vist 10 years later that he discovered all the landmarks and The Beatles trail he had taken for granted as a young person.

I know exactly what you mean! All the tourist come to places nearby that we never go to! Oh my gosh! The Beatles trail sounds wonderful. A friend of mine would go ga-ga over that. She LOVES the Beatles! :)

Gorgeous! Taking time to notice the beauty around us is difficult because we look at it every day but we often don’t see it. Nice!

Hi there. Thanks so much. If we lived closer together, we could take our kiddos a mile from my house and skip stones and play in the river. :)
You may be on to something. Seems like if we aren’t looking, we miss a lot of beautiful things that are right under our noses.
